Quality care re-certification issued to YRMC’s Cancer Center

YRMC’s Cancer Center is one of Yuma’s most prominent and architecturally advanced buildings in town and recently it has earned positive feedback from an annual assessment.

The facility that has been helping thousands all across the desert southwest since it’s opening in 2014, has earned a quality care re-certification by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative. This is a certification that only 11 other cancers centers in the state possess. The facility had to meet certain standards like, how they handle end of life care for cancer patients, along with symptom management. This certification acknowledges that YRMC’s cancer center has gone over and beyond to provide exceptional care for cancer patients.

“The cancer center is a very resource rich center. We understand that to treat cancer, yes you need chemotherapy, you need surgery, you need radiation therapy, but there is more to cancer care than just those aspects,” said Dr. Abhinav Chandra.

It is a big honor coming from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, which is the largest oncologist group in the world. while 11 practices are certified by QOPI, four of them have been re-certified and YRMC is among that selected four.
