It can happen in an instant, you look away from the stove and when you look back you’re confronted with a fire. According to the National Fire Protection Association kitchen fires contribute to almost half of all house fires in the U.S. According to the NFPA each year fire departments respond to more than a 170,000 house fires involving kitchens.

According to an NFPA report the primary cause of kitchen fires is usually unattended food also on the list is grease build up and accidentally turning on the stove. Recently, the Yuma Fire Department reported a case involving a homeowner leaving food unattended which led to a fire, thankfully that home owner not only caught the fire before it spread, but they had a fire extinguisher handy and were able to put out the fire.
