6-month-old baby found abandoned in San Luis Rio Colorado

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Sonora (KYMA, KECY) - A six-month-old baby was found abandoned in a lot on Monday in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

Police say the baby was found around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Lerdo and Nicaragua Street. They say a man was getting home when he heard a baby crying in a nearby lot. As he kept walking towards the crying voice, he realized a baby was left on the ground.

He immediately called the police, and paramedics arrived to the site.

Paramedics transferred him to the General Hospital, where he was treated for skin irritation from exposure to the sun and dehydration. Police say the Municipal DIF authorities will be taking over the case.

Officials took the baby to the shelter where he will remain for care.
