Mosqueda commits to Ripon College
Two way Yuma football star signs his letter of intent to play Division III ball in Wisconsin
YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - Alex Mosqueda loves scoring touchdowns. His favorite position is wide receiver but for the past few seasons at Yuma High School he did almost everything for the Criminals football team.
"He understands the game and his football IQ this past year has grown a lot," Yuma football head coach Bo Seibel said. "He's just a great leader."
Not only was Mosqueda a leader off the field, he was a leader on the field as well. Alex earned first team honors on offense and defense. He played wide receiver, safety, kicker, punter, kick returner and punt returner. Mosqueda was also named the region's defensive player of the year.
"I'd rather play wide receiver because I like to score touchdowns," Mosqueda said.
He'll have to try to score on defense as he says the Red Hawks have him slated to play safety this upcoming season. Mosqueda credits his coaching staff for helping preparing him to play at the next level.
"Coach Seibel has been there since I don't know, my freshman or sophomore year," Mosqueda said. "I've been with him ever since and all the other coaches have helped me prepare for this moment."
