Tunnel found near Deconcini Port of Entry

TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - U.S. Border Patrol agents and Mexico's Policia Federal discovered a second cross-border tunnel running beneath the streets of Nogales this weekend.

Mexican federal police located the tunnel's entrance Sunday in a drainage system. It was a mere 50-yards east of a shaft discovered last Wednesday.

Border Patrol says the tunnel followed the International Boundary Fence, crossed about ten-feet beneath it, then came up approximately five-feet north of the fence.

Agents say they'll fill the shaft with concrete on Monday.

The discovery comes less than five-days after agents and officers discovered another incomplete tunnel in the same general area. It too was dug into the drainage system. It extended 20-feet into the U.S.

The tunnels are the 124th, and 125th uncovered in the Tucson Sector since 1990.
