No DUI arrests this Halloween

Crime rates tend to spike up during the holiday season. But on Halloween night, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office reported no DUI arrests in the area.

Thanks to a grant from the Arizona Governors Office of Highway Safety, the Sheriffs Office has been able to increase patrol on holiday weekends.

Not only do the sheriffs patrol Yuma County, but deputy’s focus on high reoccurrence areas.

A spokesperson for the Sheriffs Office said it’s better to have a $20 bill from a taxi, than a $15,000 bill from a DUI.

“I’m tipsy, I’ve just had one, I’ve just had two. Remember, any type of driving like that with any alcohol in your system can affect you,” said Deputy Alfonso Zavala, with Yuma County Sheriffs Office.

The Sheriffs Office said they aggressively enforce the .08 percent of blood alcohol concentration.

With more holidays to come in the next two months, the increased patrol will stay steady.
