Dangerous gang member arrested by EC Border Patrol agents

El Centro Sector agents arrested a Sureño gang member after he illegally entered the United States on Saturday afternoon.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for processing. Record checks revealed the 35-year-old man was previously charged and convicted for shooting at an inhabited dwelling.

CBP said the man received a 10-year prison sentence in California for his crimes and was previously removed from the U.S. in 2014.

The CBP said the Mexican national is in federal custody pending prosecution for federal crimes.
