Peoria Police: Man accused of leaving baby son alone in car
Police in Peoria say a man has been arrested after he allegedly left his baby son alone in a parked car at an apartment complex.
They say a 31-year-old is jailed on suspicion of child abuse and endangerment.
Officers were called to do a welfare check on a baby at a Peoria apartment around 1 a.m. Monday.
When they arrived, a woman told officers her 1-year-old boy was there with the child’s father.
But police say they found the baby inside a non-running car associated with the father.
They say the baby was alert and conscious, but the amount of time the child was left in the vehicle isn’t yet known.
It’s unclear if the father has a lawyer yet for his case.
