Territorial Prison and State Park to re-open next week
Popular tourists spots to implement new practices
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area (YCNHA) says it's almost ready to reopen Yuma's most beloved state parks.
The Yuma Territorial Prison will open its gates on Monday, June 15. The Colorado River State Historic Park will welcome guests again on Tuesday, June 16.
Both parks plan to implement new practices to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including:
- Hand sanitizers stations have been installed throughout the parks. Visitors are encouraged to use them before touching any surfaces or doors.
- Visitors are highly encouraged the wear masks or cloth face coverings in outdoor areas, or when unable to social distance. Masks will be required inside all buildings.
- Park employees will practice increased and intensive cleaning and sanitization throughout the day.
YCNHA is also changing the Prison's hours to give visitors access to the grounds during the cooler morning hours. Starting Monday it will be open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The Historic Park will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Both parks are open seven days a weeks.
