YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department is proud to announce of its officers recently completed an intensive command program to better serve his community.

Lieutenant Anthony (Scott) Legros was one of only 48 graduates from the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Officers from 18 states and 43 difference law enforcement agencies attended courses on leadership, administration, legal issues, organizational performance, and behavior.

“Having one of our Police Commanders graduate from this training brings contemporary leadership to this department and will be a great asset to our community.” said Yuma Police Chief Susan Smith.

The Southern Police Institute has been educating officers since 1951. It's core mission is to enhance law enforcement professionalism and effectiveness around the world.
