Police ID body of child found beaten and burned in Mexicali
The gruesome discovery of the beaten and burned body that was discovered Saturday by Mexican police has been identified as an 8-year-old boy from Mexicali, Mexico.
The victim’s grandmother attended the crime scene Wednesday to confirm the victim’s identification.
Reports said the grandmother was crying uncontrollably after knowing what had happened to her grandson.
The grandmother said the victim was her youngest grandson and was reported missing October 18.
The woman, with tears in her eyes, said that apparently the father of the child had taken the victim.
Medical examiners said the minor was found with blows to the head and determined his cause death was due to head trauma before his body was burned.
According to the victim’s grandmother, she was able to recognize the child since half of his face was not burned.
No arrests have been made and police are still investigating the crime.
The family is waiting for the body to be released to provide the child with a proper burial.
