UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The head of the United Nations is warning world leaders that impunity, inequality and uncertainty are driving modern civilization toward “a powder keg that risks engulfing the world.” Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke Tuesday at the General Assembly’s top-level annual meeting. He says the world is in “an era of epic transformation” and facing challenges never seen before. He notes that geopolitical divisions are deepening, the planet is heating and wars are raging with no clue how they will end. But he says the challenges humanity is facing are solvable.
