Brush fire breaks out near Colorado River
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A brush fire broke out Friday morning on the Colorado River by the Cocopah Bend RV and Golf Resort.
Rural Metro responded to the call that came in a little after 8 a.m. from employees at the resort.
When they arrived, they were able to prevent the brush fire from spreading before turning it over to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
BLM said the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation and added they haven't had any lightning recently that could have possibly caused it.
BLM estimates almost one acre has been damaged and thankfully no injuries were reported.
BLM personnel is still on the scene working through any hot spots and has stopped any forward progress.
They don't anticipate having any more issues or needing any further assistance from other departments at this time.
