Michigan police provide update on stabbing death of synagogue leader
DETROIT, Mich. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Detroit police provided an update on the investigation into a fatal stabbing over the weekend that killed Samantha Woll, the leader of an area synagogue.
They wanted the community to know that they believe there is not an active threat even though they do not have a suspect in custody.
Police say they do not believe the attack was a hate crime, or an anti-semitic act, but they have not announced a specific motive for the killing.
"Anytime that you have a loss of life in our community, it's a tragic day for us. And certainly when you hear about her contribution to the community, to society, and the great loss, all the people that she's helped and literally everyone that I have heard from, and it's been a lot of people, they start the conversation all the same, how wonderful of a person she was. So that's a great loss to our community. And to our city."
