Wisconsin’s Dancing Grannies participate in Fourth of July parade

WAUKESHA, Wisc. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - In Waukesha, the Dancing Grannies returned to the parade route to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Dressed in red, white and blue, and swinging pom poms, the Dancing Grannies walked the parade route during Fourth of July celebrations Tuesday.

On Monday, the City of Waukesha declared July 3 as "Dancing Grannies and 610 Stompers Day."

The parade performance was bittersweet for the organization: In November 2021, four members of the Dancing Grannies were killed, along with another person, and at least 48 were injured when a driver drove into the Christmas parade route.

Since that tragedy, the Dancing Grannies have performed in parades locally and across the country.

The Dancing Grannies are a group of older ladies who dance in parades throughout Wisconsin and the United States.
