Summer temp break

Cooler than average days have arrived!

The Desert Southwest is coming off 2 consecutive days of excessive heat on Wednesday and Thursday, where daytime highs have reached the neighborhood of temperatures between 110 and 112 degrees.

A upper level low pressure system has moved into our area to close out the work-week, bringing in heavier wind coverage throughout our area; to the point where the National Weather Service had issued a Wind Advisory for the Imperial Valley, that expired at 11 pm.

Wind gusts in the Valley had topped off in the neighborhood of 45 to 50 miles per hour earlier in the afternoon, while the Yuma area got gusts later in the evening up to 33 miles per hour.

The low will effect the area for the weekend and even into Monday, where our daytime highs should stay in the middle to higher 90's with off and on again breezes.

Beyond that, expect the triple digit heat to return.
