Cooler temperatures enter the Desert Southwest this weekend

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)- A low pressure system will move through the region today causing winds to become breezy to locally windy and temperatures to begin cooling.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a few showers and thunderstorms will also be possible from Phoenix and areas to the north and east late this afternoon and evening.

The primary threats would be strong winds and lightning versus rainfall.

Winds will decrease by Saturday as temperatures drop to below normal values, and remain as such into early next week. A return of hot weather is increasingly likely for late next week.
