A new study on children who walk to school

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - A new study found that children who walk or bike to school are more likely to continue a physical commute years later.

According to studies... About 11 percent of children walk or bike to school.

That rate hasn't changed in 10 years.

New research appears to explain why.

They found more than 75 percent of children who were active commuters -- either biking or walking to school -- continued that trend 2 to four 4 later.

Researchers say the biggest barrier was the distance to the school, especially once students reached the high school level.
