We have a winner! Yuma and El Centro hit 111 degrees for the first time in 2023

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - With the summer-like temperatures here in the Desert Southwest, Yuma, AZ, and El Centro, CA hit the mark of the first 111-degree temperature for the first time in 2023.

El Centro, CA officially hit 111 degrees first on Saturday, July 1 at 1:46 p.m.

With Yuma, AZ officially hitting the 111-degree mark shortly after on Saturday, July 1 at 3:58 p.m.

KYMA News 11 Weather Authority Melissa Zaremba has already chosen and notified the winner of the One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating 111-degree contest, which features a $250 money prize.

There was a total of 1,296 submissions and 64 players who guessed the correct day, along with being very close to guessing the correct time.

However, there was one entry that submitted a guess with the right day and was the closest to the time who submitted their guess at least eight days in advance before the 111 mark was met out of other entries.

Now even though no one guessed the day and time spot on, we are still awarding the closest winner of the $250 money prize.

The winner is Ruben Reveles who guessed the closest of 1:00 p.m. July 1, 2023.

Congratulations Ruben!!!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our contest.
