New study reveals new boosters add only limited protection against Covid-19

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - According to a first of its kind, real-world study - new boosters add limited protection against Covid-19.

The updated Covid-19 boosters with instructions to arm the body against currently circulating Omicron subvariants do offer some protection. However, it's not as high as the protection provided by the original vaccine against earlier coronavirus variants.

Still, outgoing White House medical adviser, Doctor Anthony Fauci, called the new data "really quite good."

The new study found the updated boosters protect against symptomatic infection in the range of 40% to 60%.

That means even when the vaccine protection is at its highest, people may still be vulnerable to breakthrough infections.
