Serious rise in “Rainbow Fentanyl” is targeting teens
(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Officials at the local, state and federal level are warning about a recent dangerous opioid trend - called 'Rainbow Fentanyl.'
This trend is presenting a major concern to officials about dealers using it to target teens.
In Oakland, California, a non-profit called Fent-Check is tracking the trend, and that group along with the U.S. Department of Justice, both say they're seeing 'Rainbow Fentanyl' in two forms:
Powder that looks like sidewalk chalk and brightly colored pills.
Even small amounts of fentanyl can be deadly and Fent-Check says the powder is particularly dangerous because it's often 100% pure.
Last week the Justice Department put out a release warning about Rainbow Fentanyl in Oregon after at least two notable seizures in the Portland area.
