OCOTILLIO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A Surreños 13 gang member was found in the Jacumba Wilderness area and arrested by United States Border Patrol agents working with the El Centro Sector.

The man was apprehended Tuesday morning at about 7:00 a.m.

Agents came across the undocumented individual who illegally entered the U.S. just three miles shy of the northern part of the U.S.-Mexico border.

A record check revealed the person's documented gang member history with the street gang, Surreños 13 (Sur-13).

According to agents, this person has a substantial criminal and immigration past which includes multiple felony and misdemeanor convictions along with various re-entries after deportation.

The individual was taken to the El Centro Sector Processing Center for further medical evaluation and processing.

A U.S. immigration judge had previously ordered the person to be removed from the U.S.

U.S. Border Patrol will process the person accordingly.
