Calexico City council member “disappointed” with mayor’s statement
City Councilmember Raul Ureña claims the mayor gives special treatment to the mayor pro-tem and other city members
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Calexico City Councilmember Raul Ureña says he's disappointed in Calexico's Mayor Rosie Arreola-Fernandez' response to the press. Adding 'she does not treat her councilmembers with dignity and respect.'
In a statement to News 11, City Councilman Raul Ureña says the mayor has made sure the city has become an unwelcoming place for the residents seeking change. He adds that the mayor respects the City of El Centro and Imperial but fails to treat her own council members Gloria G. Romo and himself equally.
Ureña claims in a previous meeting, the mayor said to him, "You represent your people, Mr. Ureña, and I represent mine."

Ureña keeps his word by saying that many incidents of police brutality go unreported, even though there's no clear evidence to show that. Instead, he claims the community has called upon him in his own jurisdiction for police brutality.
