Must See Video: Trooper rescues injured hawk from highway
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A trooper rescued a hawk hopping around State Route 77 in Oro Valley after seeing he had difficulty flying.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) said the incident happened last Friday. In a video, the trooper uses a raincoat to gently capture the hawk and place it behind his patrol vehicle. Then, the trooper met with the Tucson Wildlife Center, where it was taken in to be examined and cared for.
On Monday, the Tucson Wildlife Center said, "The hawk is doing well and healing from a broken wing. Once he's completely rehabilitated, he will be released back into the wild.”
Tucson Wildlife Center has an important reminder for all Arizonans: It’s baby season! So if you see a baby bird or another baby animal, please don’t pick it up and bring it home. When in doubt, dial 520-290-9453 for guidance.
