Mexicali health officials suggest residents avoid flea markets

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - Mexican health officials recommend Mexicali residents not to shop in flea markets, but if necessary, only purchase food and cleaning products at the flea markets.

La Voz de la Frontera reported Mexicali continues to be in the orange traffic light as it continues to see the rise in COVID-19 cases. The head of Municipal Medical Services, Gabriel Borbón González, urges citizens not to neglect health measures and to consider leaving their homes unless they need to.

Borbón González tells La Voz, "We cannot stop the economy, but it is up to you whether it goes or not, and if you take your family, even if there is a 30% capacity, it does not mean that I can or should go."

Health officials will continue to inspect clubs and bars to make sure its following protocol.
