U.S. and Japan to hold summit in Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC) - President Joe Biden will hold summit talks with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida at the White House next week.

In detail, the White House said the meeting will take place on January 13.

The two leaders will then discuss "a range of issues including North Korea's unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs. That and discuss Russia's brutal war against Ukraine, and maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan strait."

The White House also said "President Biden will reiterate his full support for Japan's recently released national security strategy, its presidency of the G-7, and its term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council."

The leaders will also "celebrate the unprecedented strength of the U.S.-Japan alliance and will set the course for their partnership in the year ahead."
