1,300 flights canceled amid snowstorm
SEATTLE, Wash. (NBC) - On Sunday, some 1,300 flights were canceled across the country, stranding last-minute holiday travelers.
On Friday, a winter storm shuttered over 700 flights out of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
However, as of Saturday, almost 200 flights were canceled.
Forecasters also warned Sunday that the deadly winter storm that killed at least 28 people and caused travel chaos across the U.S. will create a potentially "life-threatening hazard."
This is for those on the move or working outside on Christmas Day.
In some areas, being outdoors could lead to frostbite "in minutes," the National Weather Service said in a bulletin.
Stretching from the Great Lakes near Canada to Rio grande along the Mexican border, the storm swept across the U.S. in recent days, leaving at least 28 people dead, according to an NBC News tally.
There were also fatalities recorded in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and New York, among other states.
