19 Republicans request for Title 42 to stay denied
(NBC) - A new ruling denies a request from 19 Republican led states for a stay that would keep a COVID-era border policy in place.
The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday declined to block a lower court order, lifting Title 42 for asylum seekers at the southern border by Wednesday.
The GOP officials initially sued to keep Title 42 in place.
They argue that lifting it would burden their states.
Not only that, they argue that should have been a part in the decision to end it.
Since Title 42's enactment in March 2020 by the Trump administration, border patrol have sent migrants back to Mexico 2.4 million times.
