City of Yuma hosts 12th Annual Back to School Rodeo
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Yuma hosted the 12th Annual Back to School Rodeo earlier Saturday morning.
This is to help students who are in need of supplies for when they go back to school next month. The rodeo took place at the Yuma Civic Center at 7:00am.
The first 2,000 kids received a free synch-styled backpack filled with school supplies once they reach the checkpoint. In addition, the kids must have been present to receive the backpack and was eligible to get one backpack.
The City of Yuma's Special Events Coordinator Joanne Fiser also said this event is to help families who are financially struggling saying, "We have a lot of people that…Especially right now with prices going up and up, we have a lot of people that aren't able to start their kids off on the right foot with supplies, and this is a great resource for them to come out and get a free backpack filled with school supplies."
Acoording to Fiser, the supplies included paper, pencils, rulers, highlighters, composition books, notebooks, erasers, and much, much more. The Yuma Police Department, Border Patrol agents, and more volunteered for the event.
