CDC study shows masking in schools cuts Covid spread
(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - Three studies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that masking in schools cuts down the spread of Covid-19.
One Arizona study in two different counties shows that the Coronavirus outbreaks were almost four times more common in schools that did not have a masking mandate than schools that had a masking mandate.
Another study showed that case rates in children and teens increased more in counties where the public schools had no mask mandates than in those where masking was required.
These studies did not account for other factors which may have influenced the results.
A third study counted more than 1,800 Coronavirus-related school closures through mid-September, which were mostly in the South where many schools opened earlier than those in other regions.
