Judge declares mistrial in 2023 Davis stabbings trial

YOLO COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A Yolo County judge declared a mistrial Friday in the Davis stabbing trial of Carlos Reales Dominguez.

The former UC Davis student is accused of fatally stabbing two men and seriously injuring a woman in 2023.

The attacks forced the college town to take unusual steps to keep people safe at night, including closing businesses early.

On Friday, jurors found Dominguez not guilty of two first-degree murder charges, but could not come to a unanimous decision on the second-degree murder charge.

Prosecutors will now decide if they want to retry Dominguez who remains in custody.
