Bay Area residents hold rally for peace in the Middle East
SAN JOSE, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Rallies in California over the weekend called for peace in the Middle East.
Demonstrators at a rally in the Bay Area Sunday called for the release of Israeli hostages being held by Hamas.
An estimated 200 Israelis were kidnapped by Hamas militants in the October 7 attack. For some, the search for loved ones more than 7,000 miles away hits home.
"[My family] were one of the first probably to be taken. They were they were at home. They were hiding in their shelter. They were texting us saying, 'We are seeing terrorits on our lawn. They are armed...They are shooting at us. We are hiding we are hiding,'" said Yael Nidam whose family was taken hostage.
