School children and adults injured after plane dumps fuel
17 children and 9 adults reported minor injuries
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX) - A Delta plane dumped fuel on six elementary schools while making an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Shortly after takeoff the Boeing 777 bound for Shanghai from Los Angeles experienced engine problems and turned around to LAX.
Before landing, the jet accidentally dumped fuel on the park school elementary playground.
Twenty children and eleven adults doused with jet fuel were treated at the scene for skin irritation.
Five other schools in the L.A. area were also doused with fuel.
Sixty people in total were affected.
The jet was able to land safely at LAX.
