U.S. Border Patrol

(KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a woman on Monday who was convicted of attempted murder.

At about 6:30 p.m., the 61-year-old woman tried to cross County Road 18 near the San Luis/ Arizona Port of Entry when agents arrested her.

Clara Ines Garavito-Medina's records showed her having an extensive criminal background.

She attempted to conceal her identity with 13 different aliases.

In 1995, Garavito-Medina tried to shoot a New York City police officer but her gun didn't fire and she was later convicted for attempted first-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a loaded firearm
