Man sentenced for attempted murder of a Border Patrol agent
TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 85 months in prison along with three years of supervised release and pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder of a Border Patrol agent.
Rey David Marquez-Jimenez is also ordered by the court to pay $99.57 in restitution to the U.S. Department of Labor for expenses for the agent's medical care says the press release.
Marquez-Jimenez attacked a U.S. Border Patrol agent near Hereford, Ariz. on January 26, 2022.
And he tackled the agent while they were attempting to handcuff another person, and punched the agent multiple times.
He also tried to pull the agent's firearm from his holster and tried to point it at the agent.
Marquez-Jimenez went on top of the agent and tried to slash and stab him with a knife, but then the agent got the knife and the 23-year-old man runs away but then gets arrested.
