HOUSTON, Tex. (KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Kylie Jenner's rumored beau and rapper, Travis Scott announced his $5 million community initiative, Project HEAL, following the deadly crowd wave at his 2021 Astroworld festival.

10 deaths, between the ages of nine and 27, took place soon after Scott started his set at the concert.

Several hundred other people were injured.

Today, the rapper said his, "Project HEAL" is giving a million dollars in academic scholarships to historically Black colleges and universities.

The project also incorporates free mental health services and developed a creative-design education program at a non-profit center in Houston.

Scott says it will fund a new technological device for event safety that is still being developed.

Hundreds of lawsuits from the event were brought up at a legal hearing this past week.

In December, during an interview, Scott said he was not aware of what was happening while he was performing.
