Valentine’s Day gifts may cost a lot more in 2022

(KYMA, KECY/CBS) - Some people may notice prices rising on not only goods but also for Valentine's Day gifts.

One person in New York has increased the price of their bouquets.

While it's normal for flowers to cost more before Valentine's Day, 2022 is seeing a nearly 20% price hike.

Flowers are becoming more scarce possibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic as farmers and flower producers are going out of business.

Chocolates are also seeing an increase in price because of problems with packaging.

"The Valentine's day boxes//we got hit with a 50% increase. When we asked why we were told it was 100% due to container ship pricing. Transportation costs," said President of Li-Lac Chocolates Anthony Cirone.

The best advice given was to order gifts ahead of time before prices go up even higher.
