Biden to unveil $200 billion universal preschool plan

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - President Biden is set to unveil his $1.8 trillion American Families Plan when he addresses a joint session of congress on Wednesday night. Included in that plan is $200 billion funding for universal pre-kindergarten.

A White House official said the proposal will direct the funds to universal pre-school for all three and four-year-olds through a national partnership with states.

The White House estimates the proposal will benefit five million children and save the average family $13,000 when the plan is fully implemented.

The massive proposal is the second part of President Biden's effort to revitalize the nation after the Covid-19 pandemic. It comes a month after he revealed an even larger $2 trillion plan aimed at updating the country's infrastructure.
