Advocates suspect unreported child abuse cases rising in Yuma County
Amberly's Place fear outbreak is keeping kids from getting help
YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY) - As the pandemic continues to change daily lives across the world and in Yuma County, advocates with Amberly's Place said that it fears children are at home with their perpetrators.
Dianne Umphress, with Amberly's Place, tells News 11's Carmen Valencia that there is a small decline in child abuse reports. However, more people are calling in, referencing that they don't see something right near their home involving a child.
Since the start of the pandemic, Umphress says kids are home as everything around us has had to shut down due to the virus.
