Imperial County residents start petition urging county to not open
El CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Residents of Imperial County start a petition to keep the county closed.
The petition cites we call for resources—including expanded unemployment and economic relief, sufficient testing, contact tracing, public health education, and relief awareness, and PPE for healthcare providers—to lower the rate of infections and deaths in Imperial County before reopening.
Imperial County currently has the highest rate of infection Per Capita in the whole state sitting at a rate of 21.7 percent.
As of Thursday, Imperial County has 3,405 confirmed cases and 43 deaths.
