Prosecutors say man used social media to solicit participation

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Federal prosecutors say a man from Page now faces federal charges for trying to start a riot and planning to set fire to a number of buildings.

26-year-old Loren Page was arrested and booked on charges of using the internet to threaten to damage or destroy a building with fire.

Prosecutors say Lane created a private Facebook chat group to try to enlist people to meet up at the Page Courthouse on June 2 and participate in a riot. They say he encouraged members of the group to bring gas cans, Molotov cocktails, and other flammable materials. They say Lane's plot included plans to burn down the city's courthouse, its police department, and several other municipal buildings.

Police arrested Lane just hours before the alleged rally. He faced a federal judge Thursday morning.
