Arizona doctor on quarantined cruise ship
Scottsdale surgeon among 3,700 isolated on ship
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - An Arizona physician is among the thousands of passengers quarantined aboard a Japanese cruise ship because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Dr. Sommer Gunia is a surgeon from Scottsdale. She recently told KTAR-FM she and her husband pass the time playing cards and solving Soduku puzzles. Dr. Gunia says crew members bring them food and water. She also says crew members patrol the hallways making sure no one leaves their cabins.
There are more than 3,700 people aboard the Diamond Princess, including passengers and crew. The ship has been docked in Yokohama, Japan for the past week. So far, 135 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed aboard the vessel.
