Critics say standardized tests discriminate against some students

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A highly anticipated report from a University of California task force recommends the system keep SAT and ACT exams on all ten of its campuses as part of their admissions process.

Critics have long argued that standardized tests put minority and low-income students at a disadvantage. The 192-page report released Tuesday disagrees with those claims.

The UC Academic Senate will review the report and compile faculty input from all campuses before giving its final recommendation to US President Janet Napolitano.

The UC Board of Regents will make a final decision the tests in May.
