U of A professor settles gender discrimination lawsuit
Suit sought $20-million in damages
TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - A University of Arizona professor has settled the $20-million gender discrimination lawsuit she filed against the Arizona Board of Regents.
The Arizona Daily Star reports the board will pay $100,000 to Katrina Miranda. Miranda's an associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry.
A federal lawsuit was filed in December 2018 on behalf of Miranda and all female faculty members in the College of Science who've worked at the U of A for at least three-years.
Miranda has been working for the university since 2002. She says the school discriminated against her by paying her, and her female colleagues, less than their male counterparts.
