Yuma job fair declared a success
Organizers of Wednesday’s job fair in Yuma are declaring the event a success. Now they’re preparing to put even more people back to work.
A variety of local agencies teamed up for the fair. They gathered more than a hundred potential employers under one roof at the Yuma Convention Center.
The Yuma Private Industry Council ( YPIC ) tells us it registered more than 1,500 job seekers during the job fair. Employers interviewed more than 200 people, and they hired 83 people on the spot.
YPIC plans another job fair on October 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the San Luis Library. It will focus primarily on agricultural positions. We’re told Dole alone has more than a hundred openings to fill.
