Republican Attorney sues California DMV
A Republican lawyer is suing California and its Department of Motor Vehicles, saying the agency is failing to verify citizenship as part of its voter registration program.
Attorney Harmeet Dhillon is known for filing lawsuits on behalf of the Trump administration. Dhillion’s latest case comes on the heels of a state audit of the DMV’s ” motor voter ” program. The audit revealed the program was plagued with technical problems that led to discrepancies in voter registrations.
The lawsuit accuses California’s Secretary of State, Alex Padilla, and its DMV Director, Steve Gordon, of violating the National Voter Registration Act. It goes on to say Padilla has ” forsaken his duty to ensure that non-citizens ” are kept off voter rolls.
Dhillon is a Republican National Committee Member. He filed this latest lawsuit on behalf of three California residents. All of them are Republican as well.
