Arizona investigators bust opioid ring

Federal, state, and local investigators team up to bust a Phoenix-area opioid ring. 11 people now face criminal charges.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office says the suspects stole the identities of health care providers, then used them to write fake prescriptions.

The investigation began back in 2018 when a nurse practitioner complained that his identity was used to issue prescriptions for Oxycodone .

Investigators say they have since identified 36 separate transactions involving fraudulent prescriptions.

Prosecutors are charging the suspects with conspiracy, participating in a criminal syndicate, identify theft, and using fraud to acquire narcotics.
