Military Matters: Security turning to AI

One of the newest players in the defense game has been awarded a 13.5 million dollar contract to provide security for bases throughout the country including Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

Anduril Industries is the creator of the Oculus Rift, a protection system that uses artificial intelligence to recognize possible threats. The system scans a vast area and identifies multiple targets and categorizes them.

For instance, the system will track walkers, passengers in vehicles, swimmers, and track their movements. Anduril Industries is new to the defense game and according to several defense publications, they’ll be in charge of providing security for our nation’s elite fighting force the United States Marine Corps.

According to publication, a device will be placed at a few air stations across the nation. No word if the new system being placed in Yuma will also be used for border security.
