Wall gets vandalized with message for Calexico councilwoman
Toys R Us in Calexico has been vandalized with graffiti. The side of the store displays a message for Calexico councilwoman Rosie Fernandez.
In large red letters it reads ” Rosie go faster there’s more wine at home. ”
It’s unclear when the wall was vandalized.
Some Calexico residents have been calling for Fernandez’s resignation following two separate car collisions she was involved in.
On May 5, Fernandez was involved in a hit-and-run accident that was caught on camera.
Fernandez confessed to the accident after her license plates were found after she fled the scene of the crash.
On July 6, Fernandez crashed into a truck on Highway 111, and was arrested for suspicion of DUI by California Highway Patrol.
We have reached out to Fernandez regarding her arrest, but she has not gotten back to us.
In an interview last week, Calexico Mayor Bill Hodge, said the city could not force Fernandez to step down.
Hodge said residents would have to ask for a recall on the councilwoman, or Fernandez would have to choose to step down.
He emphasized that those were the only two options.
