BP agents find 41 pounds of meth on Interstate 8

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a woman that allegedly carried 31 packages of methamphetamine concealed inside her vehicle gas tank on westbound Interstate 8.

On July 12, agents said a red Honda Accord approached the checkpoint and after initial questioning of the driver, the agent sent the vehicle to secondary inspection for further examination.

According to agents, while in secondary, a K-9 performed a sniff of the vehicle resulting in an alert near the driver side quarter panel and rear bumper. After searching agents discovered 31 plastic-wrapped bundles concealed inside the gas tank. The bundles contained 41.79 pounds of methamphetamine valued at $96,117.

Agents said the driver, a 39-year-old U.S. citizen was placed under arrest and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The vehicle was seized by Border Patrol agents.
